Ebony Stephenson, Construction Engineer

What does it really mean to be an Engineer? Is there one type of Engineer? And what do they do all day? Meet Ebony who would like to tell you about her job and how she became an engineer.

Meet Ebony Stephenson, Construction Engineer

About:  Ebony works for Hoare Lea a company who help to design the heating, air and lighting systems in buildings so that they are comfortable to work & live in, and use energy well, reducing any problems they cause for the environment like pollution and climate change.

Route into Engineering:  Ebony liked lots of subjects at school, especially English, Maths, Science and Languages.  She went to university where she gained a Masters degree in Engineering Design and also had work experience with Hoare Lea (the company she now works for) which helped her see what a job in Engineering would be like where she was able to help design new building structures.

Why Engineering?  Ebony always wanted to know how things work.  She wanted to become an Engineer after a school trip where she did an engineering design project to solve a problem with a team of other students.  She loves that now she gets to solve problems that make the world greener, save energy and help people live more sustainable and comfortable lives.
