About Space Park Leicester

The Space Park is a community of companies, researchers and students working together to drive growth in space skills and knowledge.

In 2020, the space sector made up about 15% of the UK’s economic (money earning) activity and will probably get bigger!  The Space Park aims to keep growing, and make the UK a big part of the space sector.

Meet Piyal Samara-Ratna

Piyal is an Enginuity Skills Award finalist.  He has been involved in many projects on deep space exploration. In this video we will explain how engineers at Space Park Leicester are using the James Webb telescope to explore space and answer questions about the universe.

Piyal Samara-Ratna is METEOR Centre Principal Engineer and will explain what he does in his role day to day, the projects that he works on, and what it is like to be an Engineer in the Space sector.

 Meet Anna Maskenolenko and Sunny Sachdev

They will tell you about the many types of engineering skills they need to work on space projects from mechanical engineering to 3D printing and CAD design.

Anna and Sunny will explain what they do day to day as they work on space sector projects and will tell you how they became engineers and why they wanted to work in Engineering.

 Meet Roisin Speight

Roisin will explain how she was inspired to work in project in the space sector by watching space missions to and why we should continue to explore space.

Roisin will talk about how she became an Engineer, the projects that she has worked on and the varied skills that she has needed in her career.
