SWOT – mission to measure oceans and water in the UK

Find out about the SWOT mission to survey the water on the Earths surface and in the Ocean. The mission will study the water on land and map the ocean beds around the UK and the rest of the world. The data they collect will help scientist study how water is changing over time and to study the impact of global warming.

Satellites are like amazing space detectives that can measure our oceans from way up high!

They have special tools and sensors that can see through the clouds and take pictures of the big blue seas. These space detectives use radar to bounce signals off the ocean's surface and measure how high the water is. It's like they're giving the ocean a gentle pat on the back!

With this clever trick, satellites can tell us about the tides and how the ocean changes over time.

They also help scientists study things like ocean currents and temperatures, which is like peeking into the ocean's secret world.

Satellites are like ocean watchers from the sky, and they help us understand and protect our precious oceans, keeping them safe and healthy for all the amazing creatures that call the sea their home!
